Robert Benson has spent his life writing and speaking about one thing: paying attention for the things in our everyday lives that point us to the presence of the Holy in our lives. Books about our longing for home and community and a sense of belonging. About our practice and ritual and work and contemplation and the way such things can be constant reminders of who we are and who we are to become.
Benson has published some 20 books ranging from books on prayer and and liturgy and spirituality and vocation to travel and gardening and baseball and the Rule of St. Benedict. They include Between the Dreaming and the Coming True, Living Prayer, In Constant Prayer, and That We May Perfectly Love Thee. Critically acclaimed in publications as diverse as the New York Times, USA Today, Publishers Weekly, BookPage, Library Journal, The American Benedictine Review, and Spirituality and Health, he is recognized for his thoughtful, gentle, humorous style and his insight into living contemplatively and prayerfully in the modern world.
Benson is a lifelong churchman, an alumnus of The Academy for Spiritual Formation, a parishioner at an Episcopal cathedral, a member of The Friends of Silence & of the Poor, and was recently named a Living Spiritual Teacher by Spirituality & Practice.com.
