I love walking intimately with God. What a wonder to commune with Jesus, being present to His delights over me. The whispers and nudges of the Holy Spirit keep my days and heart full of wildness and freedom.
I savor the sweetness of being found and invited to love again in a young marriage of two old high school-college sweethearts, after a thirty-four year absence from one another. I cherish my three intriguingly unique grown children, lovely daughter-in-love, and adorable first grandson. My life is richly full of communion, creativity, and curiosity. Whether offering spiritual direction, wordsmithing as a writer, or being attentive and available to the people God invites into my days, joy is the imprint of my heart.
A graduate of Denver Seminary in the area of Christian Formation and Soul care, I encourage others to walk deeply with Jesus. Over the years I have mentored others within church and parachurch ministries. I delight in watching the movements of the Holy Trinity in the lives of others as well as in my own heart. Currently I am journeying deeper into the heart of God and my own heart through the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius. Being part of a prayer intercessory ministry as well as on their board and on the board of a counseling ministry’s foundation keeps awe and wonder as constant companions.
As far back as I can remember, I have been immersed in words: voraciously reading, continuously playing with, and delightedly enjoying them. Being a retired elementary school teacher with a master’s degree in Early Childhood Education and a love of children’s literature, I’ve written curriculum for ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages), with articles in TESOL and The Reading Teacher. Tyndale House Publishers carried some of my devotionals online. Emails and, more recently, blog posts have chronicled the heart-scape of my life: the devastation of divorce, the surprises of single parenthood with teenagers, the unexpected season of caregiving amidst my parents’ avalanche of aging, living into my dreams of moving to Colorado and going to seminary, and the wonder of a new love with an old sweetheart. Though I once worked mainly in the field of emergent language and early childhood education, my joy now is working with those who desire to go deeper into the language of the heart.
Most weekends, you will find me outdoors exploring the wild beauty of Colorado with my beloved husband. Otherwise, I’m probably listening to or telling stories of Jesus or curled up with a good book and a cup of tea, a journal nearby, capturing ideas for a novel, creating some prose, prayers, or poetry.
